The administration of Osun State has stated its intention to address the high youth unemployment rate in the state.

During the Career Fair Day, which was co-hosted by various federal ministries, departments, and agencies, Governor Ademola Adeleke made the announcement to students, job seekers, and other interested parties.

In a statement made by Ayanleye Aina, the Head of Service, on behalf of the Governor, the job fair was described as a powerful platform for job seekers and as a springboard to take advantage of opportunities across federal enterprises located in the state.

To “deepen the state economy by encouraging agro-industrial activities among the young and the old and diversify the economic base of the state,” he put it, as part of the employment goal.

“More than that, we are actively working to implement the localization agenda through our projects. This policy is empowering local contractors and businesses to hire more indigenous people in the construction industry.”

According to the governor, his administration is resurrecting the state’s vocational education centers with the goal of providing young people in Osun with the technical skills they need to start their own businesses.

Biyi Odunlade, commissioner for political affairs and intergovernmental affairs, welcomed the participants and encouraged them to make the most of the event by visiting the many agencies in attendance to learn more about job prospects in Osun and beyond.

In order to build a solid partnership that would last for years, he urged agencies to initiate new constructive engagements within the ministry.
