Ayra Starr gushed that receiving three nominations at the BET awards is “crazy,” expressing her joy at her latest triumph on X, Friday.
“Mobstarrs!” she said to her legion of devoted followers. With its BET nomination, “Commas” is already well entrenched in the Afrobeats scene, despite having only launched this year. That’s insane—three nominations! Holy cow!
The Best International Act category is sure to be filled with formidable opponents for Starr, including fellow countrywoman Asake, South African Tyla, French vocalist Aya Nakamura, British diva Raye, Brazilian Karol Conká, and many more.
Again, she’ll be competing for Best New Act alongside Tyla, Raye, Sexyy Red, Fridayy, October London, and more.
Ayra Starr faces stiff competition in the Best Her category from the likes of Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, SZA, Megan Thee Stallion, Victoria Monét, and many more renowned artists.
Los Angeles, California’s Peacock Theater will play host to the 2024 BET Awards on June 30.
