A plane from Xejet Airlines, a premium service provider, went off the runway and into the grass at Lagos Airport.

The incident occurred after the Embraer 145 aircraft, which was carrying 52 people, had already taken off from Abuja Airport.

Sources at the airport have informed The Nation that the 18th left Runway is now off-limits to aircraft traffic as members of the Aerodrome Fire and Safety Rescue Unit of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) rush to the scene to save the lives of the passengers.

Operating out of Lagos Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS), Xejet Airlines caters exclusively to business class passengers.

The Lagos Airport has seen the slide of yet another Xejet Airlines plane. At around 11:29 a.m., the plane swerved into the grass verge near B5.

The passengers are being assisted in their departure by the fire and rescue crews who have arrived on the scene.

“Ruby18L is currently closed to traffic,” the source stated.
