Two heavy-duty lister generators and two sound-proof power generators belonged to Bende LGA; a traditional ruler from the local government allegedly took and sold them, according to the Abia State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on the recovery of government property and funds.
This was revealed following a fact-finding journey to Bende LGA by the Panel, chaired by Justice Florence Duruoha-Igwe, rtd.
In addition, the fact-finding tour vandalized a solar power set that the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) had given to the council and an overhead tank that delivers water to the council, according to the court panel.
In addition to this, the panel stated that it noticed that the council’s ten-room office blocks, staff quarters, forest department, and Chief Magistrate court were encroached upon when they were divided and sold to private parties for commercial purposes.
Bende LGA Chairman Mr. Chijioke Nwankwo led members of the Abia State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on the recovery of government properties and funds on a fact-finding visit around the council grounds.
